Revolution Conference 2017: Karina Popova About The Future of Delivery Messenger Channels With SMS-Fallback
Finally the wait is over: The RevolutionConf, a two-day conference about software development, is taking place in Virginia Beach on June 1st and 2nd. As one of the biggest conferences, RevolutionConf has the goal to unite software developers in the mid-Atlantic region to discuss about latest developments with regards to software. One of the speakers there will be our colleague Karina Popova, DevOps at LINK Mobility in Hamburg. She will talk about the future of customer communication via different messenger channels with SMS fallback.
Probably everyone remembers earlier days, when SMS was one of the most used means of communication. Whereas the dissemination of SMS in private communication is decreasing, SMS is still heavily used for commercial communication. Especially with regards to one-directional distribution of information from a company to its customers, SMS is often the prefered channel. In the future, this will probably change and SMS will lose this position but will only serve as fallback. New internet-based messengers like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Threema are rolled out across the world and will dominate future communication. Instead of sending SMS to their customers, companies will use these channels which will thus become more and more important. SMS will then only be used in case an internet-based channel is not available or for time-critical services. In her speech, Karina will give an insight into this development and the chances resulting from this.
